What I proposed
Following the year-one sustainability note, I published a concrete premium sketch:
- Moving toward premium: 3+ recipients (2 still free), custom delivery time (default ~6 AM local), 5,000+ characters, file attachments.
- Staying free: unlimited capsules, one extra recipient besides yourself, up to 5k characters, custom titles.
- Credits: buy packs (or a single credit); spend a credit to make a capsule premium and unlock premium features on it. Credits persist until used.
- Pack pricing sketched: $1.99 / $4.99 for 5 / $7.99 for 10 — packs beat one-offs because payment processors punish tiny charges.
I deliberately avoided subscriptions for most users who only send occasionally. Ads were considered as a future experiment, not a replacement for the model.
Community reaction
The thread was remarkably aligned: “fair,” “doesn’t disrupt the free experience,” “rooting for you.” That consensus mattered before turning the plan on.
From the community
Seems quite fair, actually.

u/srv524View on RedditIt’s very fair; the premium features don’t disrupt the existing user experience! Thanks for being a reasonable and generous developer! :’)
